EU electronic money or payment institution
Authorised by a national regulator for issuing e-money or providing payment services, with initial capital, local substance and ongoing prudential supervision. Authorisation typically takes many months.
Bank licence
The only structure permitted to take deposits from the public and lend them out. Requires multi-million capital, full prudential supervision and extended authorisation timelines.
Combining structures
Many clients pair a Swedish Trust Company for trust and asset management with a Montana MSB for US money services, and access banking, IBAN and card services through licensed partners introduced by Bankmatcher — included with all our services.
Questions
Which structure lets me lend money?
Lending as a business requires a credit or banking authorisation. Neither a Swedish Trust Company nor an MSB is a lending licence.
Can I offer IBAN accounts or cards?
Through licensed banking and card-issuing partners, not as the trust company itself. Introductions are included via Bankmatcher.
